There is a moment, between winter and summer, when Lorenzago di Cadore truly changes.
It is not sudden, but gradual. The snow slowly retreats, water begins to flow everywhere, and the trails reappear after months of silence. This is the thaw.

With the thaw, Lorenzago di Cadore becomes a place to experience once more.
The first low-altitude hikes, walks through damp and quiet forests, bike rides along the cycling paths, and the first trail runs on newly reopened routes all mark the beginning of the season.
It is not yet summer, and that is exactly its value. There are fewer people, more silence, and a deeper connection with the landscape. You walk with snow still covering the peaks above, while green slowly returns to the valleys.
In April, this awakening is also reflected in the first local activities. Between Auronzo and Misurina, guided excursions and outdoor initiatives return, accompanying the reopening of the trails and marking the start of the season.
These are simple but clear signs: the mountain is coming back to life.
Running at the right moment
It is during this time that the territory naturally lends itself to more dynamic movement.
The Trail de le Longane, just a few minutes from Lorenzago di Cadore, is a perfect example. It takes place on Sunday, April 26, and runs through one of the most characteristic areas of the region, between Lozzo di Cadore and the trails leading up towards the Longane.
The course is about 15 km long with 1,100 meters of elevation gain, immediately immersing you in steep climbs, technical sections, and forest crossings.
The route alternates rhythm and difficulty, with three main climbs shaping the progression, and iconic passages such as the Roggia dei Mulini, the Lagune, and the Peron de le Longane.
It is not just a race, but a way to truly connect with these places, following the rhythm of the mountain as it comes back to life.
